When I first started my fitness journey I was scared. Terrified. I had lots of negative thoughts like ‘I’ll never be able to do this’. ‘I don’t even know how to cook’. ‘I’m just destined to be the fat girl’. ‘I suck’. ‘I’m just not an athlete anymore’. ‘I don’t even know how to dance’.
That dang first step is tough! I had to squash all that negativity down and just simply start. One foot in front of the other.
I started as a participant in a fun hip hop class at the YMCA. And I was NOT even a front row diva. Now I’m teaching classes myself.
Then I took it another step further and got licensed to teach PiYo. I am NOT a yogi. I didn’t even practice yoga. I could’ve let that stop me too. I heard my inner voice saying: ‘You’re not good enough’. ‘You can’t be like them’. ‘You suck’. ‘You can’t learn that’. ‘You don’t belong here’. Squashed those fears and negative thoughts down again!
Then I went on to completely change my nutrition. Whole30/no sugar/no grains/paleo style. Me, of all people!!! Someone who was NOT a chef and really sucked at cooking. I never read labels or ingredients.
So then I said Buh bye to 50 pounds. 50 pounds of weight, weighing me down. And I’m not done yet. I’m STILL on my fitness journey.
I learned through trial and error. I would try something. And then try again. Each time learning something new.
Now I’m onto my next challenge starting next week. A 21 day cleanse. Am I scared? Of course. Trying new things is always scary. But I’m not gonna let that fear stop me.
