Linking pain and pleasure to your habits. 95% of what you do is through your subconscious.
I listened to a podcast with Rob Dial today. It was soooooo good. His podcast is called MWF MOTIVATION.
He goes on to say: So if you’re having trouble changing your (fitness and nutrition) habits you have to drill down to the root of it. And really understand what is triggering your pain and pleasure.
Do you link pain to fitness? Or eating vegetables?
Do you link pleasure to eating donuts and pizza?
You have to figure out how to rewire your brain to what you derive pleasure from. So for instance. Let’s say you hate working out but you get up and go for a walk. You should celebrate like CRAZY to tell your brain ‘this is good. This is awesome. I did so great!’ For real….. dance around with some awesome music, look at yourself in the mirror and tell yourself how proud of you that you are. It sounds really silly but just TRY it. Do it every time.
On the other hand, What would happen to you if you DID NOT eat healthy real Whole Foods and exercise? Will you get heart disease and die and leave your kids, spouse or partner left to figure out how to live without you? Go to the worst case scenario to link that to pain.
Patterns of thinking (that you have had for decades) that you are trying to change does not happen over night. It takes DAILY practice and self awareness.
Practice Visualization. Close your eyes…..In your mind picture yourself being successful. Completing that workout and feeling amazing and strong! Eating a whole bunch of good whole food and really loving it. Visualize yourself feeling powerful for taking control.
I always say this in my online groups… Mindset is everything. YOUR brain believes what YOU tell it. Talk to yourself in the most positive way so that your brain starts to BELIEVE:
- you are strong
- you are healthy
- you are fit
- you are beautiful
